Eye Shadows
by Bianca Brad
As in the case of
foundation and powder, when applying the eye shadow one should keep
in mind that less may be more. Small colour accents can often be more
effective. The eye shadow influences the entire face. Therefore, once
more, the eye shadow’s role is to accentuate (embellish) the shape
and even colour of the eyes. You will definitely prefer to hear:
“Look at those beautiful blue eyes!” instead of “Look at that
girl wearing blue eye shadows”.
And if we’re done
with the eye shadow, we can go to the next stage, namely the more
precise definition of the eyes, using the charcoal or the liquid
liner.
The charcoal liner is
seen as a simple “accessory” in the makeup kit. It can be of
different shades of black, brown, green, blue, gray and violet. Few
know that the charcoal powder liner was used in antiquity for
therapeutic purposes.
Egyptians called it
“Mastim” or “Stim”, meaning “what makes the eyes talk”
and offered protection against eye diseases which, in warm climates,
can be easily transmitted by insects. Besides, the eyes became more
expressive, bigger, and the liner became a compulsory “accessory”.
Today, there is the pencil liner and the liquid liner, the latter -
whether it is in fashion or not - being used for a more sophisticated
makeup.

the next issue!
